Kristina was at college, so this was our first vacation without her which was kind of a hard thing to do (although she's gone on quite a few trips Katherine missed when she was little). We flew into Richmond then drove right out to Monticello. It is an amazing place. Thomas Jefferson used so many interesting inventions in his house to make it more useful to him. I especially liked the clock designed to work on the inside & outside of the house. Rich liked the fish pond where he kept fish he had caught until he was ready to eat them (so they would taste extra fresh). It's definitely worth the trip!
